Ayurveda: Thousands of Years of Wisdom

Nur_Tepeli2

Ayurveda, meaning "knowledge of life," is a traditional Indian system of medicine and philosophy with a 5,000-year history. Today, it is used worldwide in holistic health approaches.

The fundamental teaching of Ayurveda is this: everything in the universe is composed of five elements (earth, water, fire, air, space), and these elements manifest in humans as three basic energy types (dosha):

Every person has all three doshas, but usually one or two are dominant. These dominant doshas shape a person's temperament, needs, and reactions.

Benefits of Understanding Your Child's Dosha

Understanding your child's dominant dosha will allow you to offer them more appropriate support.

Understanding Behavior: The answer to the question "Why is he/she so active?" might be "High Vata energy." This perspective helps us understand your child's nature rather than viewing the behavior as a problem.

Customized Support: While your Vata child may need routine, your Kapha child may need movement. Not every child is calmed by the same approach.

Highlighting Strengths: You can celebrate Pitta's leadership, Vata's creativity, and Kapha's loyalty.

Anticipating Challenges: Exams can stress Pitta, changes can worry Vata, and too much inactivity can numb Kapha.

Understanding Sibling Dynamics: Conflict between different doshas is natural. Understanding the order of Pitta and the chaos of Vata makes it easier to mediate.

If you're curious about your child's dominant dosha, you can access a dosha test designed for children.

Important Note: Dosha types are a tool for understanding, not a label. Instead of limiting your child by saying, "You're Vata, you can't be quiet," you can use them to guide them by saying, "Your energy is high, let's use it by dancing."

Furthermore, Ayurveda is not a substitute for medical diagnosis or treatment. If you have any concerns about your child's health, you should always consult a healthcare professional.

ABOUT LITTLE DOSHAS

Little Doshas is a project founded by Ayurveda expert and trainer Nur Tepeli Serbest, aiming to bring the wisdom of Ayurveda into the world of children.

Every child is born with a unique nature. Some are as lively as the wind, some as determined as fire, and some as calm as the earth.

Ayurveda has defined these natures for thousands of years: the Doshas; Vata, Pitta, and Kapha.

Little Doshas translates this ancient wisdom into a language children can understand. Through stories, games, breathing exercises, and sensory experiences…

Our aim is not to teach children "how they should be"; it is to create space for them to discover their own nature.

When a child recognizes their own nature:

  • They express their feelings better.

  • He connects with his body.

  • It balances its energy.

  • He feels safer.

What does Little Doshas offer?

1. Stories

With the book "We Are Actually One," children discover their own nature through the Dosha Brothers.

2. School Workshops

Story-based awareness activities implemented in preschools and primary schools. These include breathing exercises, emotion recognition exercises, and body awareness practices.

3. Environmentally Friendly Support Products

Oil blends and holistic support products specifically developed for each dosha, suitable for children.

NUR TEPELİ SERBEST

I'm Nur.

I am an Ayurveda expert, mother, educator, and seeker of a spiritual path.

My inner journey, which began with yoga 20 years ago, has deepened with breathwork, meditation, reiki, NLP, and diverse life experiences. Throughout my life, I've tried different careers, moved between countries and cities, and experienced successes and challenges. But the one thing that hasn't changed is my unwavering commitment to trying and learning.

My encounter with Ayurveda was a turning point. It taught me not only about health, but also the bigger picture, cause-and-effect relationships, and sustainable balance.

Then I became a mother.

And all my knowledge converged on a new question: "How can I best support a child's nature?"

My daughter grew up with this holistic perspective from the moment she was born. Watching her, I saw one thing very clearly:

Every child is born with a different nature. And the right kind of support isn't about trying to change that nature; it's about understanding it.

Actually, I wrote Biriz with this awareness and founded Little Doshas.

My goal is to take Ayurveda out of the adult world and make it accessible to children. Through stories, games, and experiences…

I am here to support children in getting to know themselves, parents in better understanding their children, and schools in adopting a holistic approach to children.

For me, Ayurveda is not a theory. It's a way of life. A guide to balance. A lighthouse.

And now I want to share this light.
